Surah 55. Surah al Rahman (The Most Compassionate)
Bismillah ir Rahman ir Raheem
In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
- The Most Compassionate,
- Taught the Qur’an;
- Created the human,
- Taught him speech (discourse, thought, logic, reason, comprehension, integration).
- The sun and the moon
(Orbit) with mathematical precision, - And the stars,
And the trees,
Bow down in prostration. - And the heavens has He raised high
And established (dynamic) equilibrium (therein), - So that you do not violate justice (in your own lives).
- And establish weight with equity,
And do not compromise the balance. - And the earth has He shaped for the living creatures,
- In it there are fruit,
And date palms, of (many) varieties with sheathed clusters; - And grains with husks and herbs with scent,
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- He has created the human from animated clay, (malleable) like that of pottery,
- And created the Jinn from turbulent fire,
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- The Rabb of the two Easts (inner in your souls and outer in nature)
And of the two Wests (inner and outer). - Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- He has floated the two oceans that meet,
- Between them is a partition that they do not cross,
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- From them are brought forth pearls and corals,
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- And His are the ships that move on the oceans, (rising high) like mountains,
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- Upon all that exists, there shall be annihilation,
- The Being of your Rabb, the Lord of Majesty and Bounty, shall endure,
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- Whatever (and whoever) is in the heavens and the earth—ask of Him,
Every moment He (reveals His Beautiful Names upon creation) with sublime glory, - Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- Soon shall We turn to you, O members of the two genres;
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- O assembly of jinns and humans!
If it is within your power
That you should escape the layers of the heavens and the earth,
Then escape!
You shall not escape without authority (of your Lord). - Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- Upon you will be sent,
A rolling ball of fire,
And smoke,
Then, you shall not be able to help yourselves. - Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- And, as the sky is split open,
And it turns red, crimson like hot turbulent oil, - Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- Then on that Day,
No jinn or human shall be asked about his own sins, - Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- The condemned shall be recognized by their foreheads,
Then, they shall be seized by their forelocks and their feet. - Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- This is the Hell that those who are guilty used to deny;
- They shall wander in circles therein and in a boiling, putrid liquid.
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- And he who feared (the absence of Divine Grace),
Has a place near His Rabb, with two Gardens, - Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- With (limitless) variegated branches;
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- In them are two springs, gushing forth,
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- In them are all kinds of fruit, in twos,
- Then which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- Reclining on couches, of which the covers are of fine brocade,
And fruits from the two Gardens near. - Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- In them will be companions, modest in their look,
Whom no human has touched before, nor jinn, - Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- As if they are rubies and corals,
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- What is the recompense for good (beautiful deed) except goodness (beautiful deed)?
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- And apart from these two, there are two Gardens.
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- Deep green;
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- In them are two fountains, gushing forth,
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- In them are fruits, and dates, and pomegranates;
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- In them are blessings, excellent;
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- Companions of supreme grace, living in pavilions;
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- Whom no human has touched before, nor jinn,
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- Reclining on green cushions, beautiful, elegant;
- Then, which of the bounties of your Rabb do you deny (O humans and Jinns)?
- Sanctified is the Name of your Rabb,
The Lord of Majesty and Bounties.
