Surah 96. Surah al Alaq

Surah 96. Surah al Alaq (That which Clings)

Bismillah ir Rahman ir Raheem
In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

  1. Read! In the Name of your Rabb, Who created,
  2. Created the human from that which clings.*
  3. Read! By your Rabb, the most bountiful,
  4. Who taught by the Pen,
  5. Taught humankind what it knew not.
  6. No! The human does indeed transgress,
  7. When he looks upon himself as autonomous.
  8. Indeed, towards your Rabb is the return.
  9. Do you not see the one who forbids
  10. The worshiper as he prays?
  11. Do you see if he is on guidance?
  12. Or (if he) commands Divine consciousness?
  13. Do you see if he rejects (the Truth) and turns away?
  14. Does he not know that Allah does indeed see (everything)?
  15. No! If he desists not, We will drag him by his forelock!
  16. A lying, sinful forelock!
  17. Then, let him call his helpers,
  18. And We will summon the armies of punishment.
  19. No! Do not listen to him,
    But fall down in prostration,
And come closer (to Divine presence).
